General API information

The Rackspace Metrics API is implemented using a RESTful web service interface. Like other Rackspace Cloud services, this service shares a common token-based authentication system that allows seamless access between products and services.
The Rackspace Metrics API is defined as a RESTful HTTP service that uses all aspects of the HTTP protocol, including methods, URIs, media types, and response codes.
The Rackspace Metrics API supports JSON data serialization request and response formats.

All requests to authenticate and operate the service are performed using SSL over HTTP (HTTPS) on TCP port 443. For authentication instructions, see Authenticate to the Rackspace Cloud.
