At Rackspace, we've been putting a lot of work into SDKs lately. Recently the team at Mailgun joined the SDK club and released an officially supported SDK for PHP. They are also working on SDKs for additional languages like C#, Ruby and Python which are coming soon.
In addition to providing a way to interact with the Mailgun API, the PHP SDK has a few really cool utilities that make it way easier to do some common, but complex tasks.
As many of you know, Rackspace acquired the transactional email provider Mailgun almost a year ago. Mailgun has a super easy-to-use API for sending, receiving and tracking on your application emails. They also support SMTP, if that's your thing. We've blogged about Mailgun a bunch this year, and recently Rackspace integrated Mailgun into the Rackspace Cloud Control Panel, making it that much easier to integrate Mailgun into your app (and to get 50,000 free emails per month in the process). The Mailgunners just released a new feature that we are really excited about: email validation for web forms. So today, we're reblogging their post announcing the new feature which is completely free for Rackspace and Mailgun customers. One of my favorite services here at Rackspace is Mailgun, a set of APIs that allow you to send email and manage mailing lists via a REST API. Coming back from a recent trip to San Antonio I decided that I would add an Objective-C interface to send email via Mailgun using my own iOS interface instead of using Apple's
MFMailComposeViewController. This library is now open sourced on Github and available via Cocoapods.
The team over at Mailgun just posted a Python tutorial written by Mailgun customer Paul Finn about how to use Python and the Mailgun API to upload large images to Cloud Files. The use case for the post is uploading photos from your phone, but the same process could be used anytime to want to parse an email attachment and store it in the cloud. The team over at Mailgun just posted a case study about how the Rackspace Cloud Monitoring team successfully migrated their email alerts to the Mailgun email automation platform. It's a really interesting read that is as much about how to plan for and deploy 3rd party tools in a production application as it is about using Mailgun to automate and monitor email alerts.

In case you didn't hear, Rackspace recently acquired Mailgun, a YCombinator startup that makes it really easy to integrate email into your application. Mailgun does the simple things like sending password confirmations and shipping notifications, but it also makes it A LOT easier to build some really good stuff.

The service allows you to receive event notifications via a webhook, and everything is priced to scale as you scale.
With the launch of Rackspace Cloud Monitoring (RCM) earlier this week, Rackspace has added an additional tool to your belt that shows you how your servers and applications are behaving. Cloud Monitoring makes it easy to configure monitors and alerts from the Control Panel, but today I want to focus on raxmon, one of the most flexible CLI tools available today for RCM.
